Smallpox Initiative
This project involves both paper and CD-ROM content encompassing drills and scenarios for public health department assessment and training. This project also includes the development of a DVD, which highlights the Center’s advanced multimedia capabilities. The DVD uses a local news reporter to broadcast two news reports: one on the scene of the event and the other in a newsroom. These reports are simulated to reflect actual newscasts in the event of a smallpox outbreak. Much like an actual newscast, the DVD broadcast will contain clues and subtle distinctions public health officials will need to ascertain in order to discern what type of public health concerns may be occurring. The DVD, in conjunction with the CD- ROM and paper components, will all work together to produce a quality product that will effectively assess and increase public health preparedness.
