Center Staff present
Infection Control Testimony before Missouri State Bioterrorism Commission
At the invitation of State Senator Chuck Gross of Saint
Charles, Missouri, Center delegates Eugene Carroll, Todd Luerding and Bill
Stanhope offered a morning of testimony about the Center and its efforts
to develop a comprehensive train the trainer program in infection control
for first responders. The team presented an abbreviated version of the
Glo Germ™ video as a graphic demonstration of the hazards arising
from SARS and the other emerging infectious diseases confronting EMT/ Paramedics
and other first responders.
The testimony received national press coverage, and included an article in the “Washington Post” and significant airtime on NPR affiliates, while a local TV station is preparing a special to cover the issue in detail. Furthermore, media coverage has led to contact with faculty from a major Canadian medical school who share our concern for the safety of the first responder community and are negotiating participation in a collaborative research project with the Center.
By the end of May the Center delegation expects to make similar presentations to the National Fire Academy and the national leadership of the IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) in an effort to move forward on the production of the special effects infection control-training project.Have a question or comment?
