Institute to host November 2006 conference to discuss Bioterrorism and EMS response to SARS Epidemic

On November 29th and 30th, 2006, the Institute will host William C. Patrick III, former director of the US Army Surgeon General’s office of Biodefense and Alexis Silverman, Infection control officer for the Toronto EMS Department.

Mr. Patrick will share his knowledge, acquired over 40-year career in biological agent defense. His presentations will focus on his perceptions of the realities of bioterrorism, agents presenting the greatest threat and the management of white powder threats.

Ms. Silverman will detail the Toronto EMS response to the first and second waves of the SARS epidemic. She will specifically describe the lessons learned, the lingering adverse impact to the EMS system. She will also detail the significant changes in the paramedic response protocols that have been implemented because of that experience.

Please join us for this important conference and contact Larry Bommarito to reserve a seat, as capacity will be limited to 100.  The meeting will take place at the Edward Jones headquarters building in southwest St. Louis County. Final details regarding the conference will be released in October.
