Saint Louis University is committed to being a caring community. That goal is represented by the initiative we've named Cura, which is Latin for "care." It holds us all to the highest ethical and professional standards.
Each of us has a responsibility to foster a culture of understanding, respect and appreciation for the people with whom we work and interact, and to inspire a collaborative and collegial working, learning and social environment.
Cura is a grassroots effort created in response to input from SLU's faculty and staff members. It is here to empower and support all members of the SLU community as we build and sustain a positive workplace culture that helps us to be the University our mission calls us to be.
Watch a message from SLU President Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D., on the ideals of the Cura program.
The Cura Standards
In order to protect the health and well-being of our workplace and community, we commit to the following Cura standards:
- Treat each other with dignity, compassion and respect
- Treat all colleagues as equally important team members, regardless of job, role or title
- Appreciate and understand the culture, humanity and differences of others
- Build trust through open, honest communication, reliability and integrity

Share Examples of the Cura Standards in Action
Every day, members of our community make SLU a great place for faculty and staff to work, and students to learn. From small acts that often go unnoticed to major initiatives that help improve our region, these contributions bring SLU's mission to life.

Getting Cura Support
Saint Louis University encourages all employees to speak up if they feel that they are being treated disrespectfully. When you are involved with a disrespectful situation, you are encouraged to reach out to Cura for assistance by calling 314-977-CURA (2872), emailing email@example.com, or submitting an anonymous report.
The Cura Response Team can help coach you through a situation, provide resources, or take more action if desired. Individuals have several options for requesting assistance.
Through the Request for Assistance, the Response Team will confirm receipt of the request and follow up; the submitter has the option to remain anonymous and all information in any case is confidential.
The Anonymous Submission Form collects concerns and issues; no follow up is provided to the submitter as the form is completely anonymous.
Lastly, individuals can reach out directly to their HR consultant.
